Malaria kills more than a million people a year (70% of them children under 5 years old and it is the leading cause of death among pregnant women worldwide). And yet, these deaths could be avoided , malaria prevention and cure are entirely possible. No one should die from it. The most effective means of prevention is to sleep under a mosquito net, because mosquitoes bite between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The association funds anti-malaria mosquito nets, specifically LLINs (long-lasting insecticide-treated nets), and participates in their distribution to ensure their use. It monitors and reports on malaria data. Each net costs $2.50 / €2.20, lasts between 3 and 4 years , and protects an average of two people. It takes between 50 and 250 nets to save a life. Every net counts.
