The FFAC (French Federation of Guide Dog Associations for the Blind) provides more than 220 guide dogs free of charge to visually impaired people each year , thus contributing to better social and civic inclusion .
A guide dog is a dog designed to guide a person suffering from blindness or severe visual impairment . It provides them with greater autonomy , comfort and security in their daily movements. Avoiding obstacles, finding pedestrian crossings, memorizing routes, finding a bus stop, a mailbox... the guide dog can respond to 50 commands. It is also a daily companion and a true vector of social connection.
The FFAC brings together 10 regional associations, 2 national associations, 17 education centers and 1 network of puppy breeders who have chosen to come together within a Federation in order to harmonize and coordinate their actions. In particular, the promotion of the Guide Dog among potential users and the general public, the operation and development of Guide Dog Schools , the professional training of educators and the recognition of this autonomous means of locomotion by the public authorities.
