The Global Penguin Society (GPS) is the first and only international organization dedicated exclusively to the conservation of all 18 species of penguins and their marine and coastal habitats.
Founded by scientists and conservationists, it combines research, education and action to protect these iconic birds threatened by climate change , pollution and human activities.
The Global Penguin Society assesses the nature, extent, and location of conservation problems such as fisheries mismanagement, oil drilling operations, pollution, and more.
In particular, it develops documents defining conservation strategies for penguins on a global scale.
In terms of education , the organization focuses its efforts on communities and schools near penguin colonies so that the next generation can better appreciate these birds. It organizes excursions to introduce penguins to their natural environment, gives lectures and distributes hundreds of books on wildlife and conservation to schools.
